Watership Down
Richard Adams
pg. 460

I would make the final war between the Efrafan rabbits and the Watership rabbits more action packed. As it is it's kind of anticlimactic. I was kind of expecting blood and gore and rabbits tearing other rabbits apart, and all that really happened was a fight between Bigwig and Woundwort, and Woundwort being killed by a dog. It wouldn't really change the story, because Woundwort would still die and the Watership Down rabbits would still win the war, it would just be a more exciting climax.

  1. The ending you are describing reminds me of the end of Breaking Dawn. The author spends the whole book preparing for this huge fight... that never happens. Why do you think the author does this? Do you think this is the kind of author that would use gore?
