I would say that the antagonist would be his mother. She is always pessimistic and is always getting down on her son. She never tries to help him and comes home with a new guy every week. I believe she is being the antagonist because she doesn't want him around because his dad left him and she feels like her son is his dads responsibilty so she won't help. She just pushes him aside and never wants to talk to him about anything. She needs to care more about her son so he will grow up and do something with his life, unlike her.
