I would change how the author describes the characters. The story is told from the point of view of the main character, Chloe. The author doesn't have her really think about how a person looks, so you don't get the image of the person until you've seen them a couple of times. Like the psychiatrist she is seeing. You meet him a few different times throughout the book, but it's not until the middle of their 1st meeting when you're told (very vaguely) that his hair is green. It doesn't even come right and say it. Chloe just mentions something about liking how he doesn't look like most other doctors because of his hair. But if Chloe did start describing more of how the characters in the book looked like, it would get rid of the kind of choppy feel to the book. That feeling is what gives you an insight into how Chloe thinks and it makes the book really interesting to read.
Wow that is really strange. I would think green hair would definitely be something to mention when you're meeting him. That kind of gives more insight into the kind of person he is. So I agree with you maybe there should be more description of the characters.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I actually prefer that the author excludes information on how they appear. I like to leave it up to my imagination. I do like if they have a few adjectives so I know the relationship to the characters and so I can imagine how they would act. Sometimes its hard to picture them though so I like some details. But, sometimes even though they tell me that they look one way, I still picture them in another.
