Please Stop Laughing at me. Judy Blanco
This books setting is usually at a school. She has flashbacks throughout the whole book. Most of the time she is getting beat up at school or harassed. I think that if the setting were to change, it wouldnt really change the story. As long as she was still experiencing the same things it wouldnt matter where she would be at.

Do you think if the time period changed would that effect your plot? Place is not the only thing involved in setting remember.
