An external conflict in the book is that Mike obviously lives in a bad part of New York. Every day he struggles to keep his family together. His father was dead and his mom was back in Cuba. An internal conflict is that he has to keep his dads death a secret so he can stay in the United States. He loves to play baseball. He is very big for his age, and he is really good at playing. He settles things by working hard around his neighbors house where he lives. He takes care of his brother to help out. I agree with what he is doing. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
How did his dad die? Are they illegal immagrants?
